data entry fields on the MobileCite
Handheld or Laptop are defined through the use of the Data Entry Default
Utility. When your new MobileCite
System is installed, it will already have the most commonly used data
entry choices configured. Additionally, Cardinal's
installation team will work with your staff to make sure your codes and
descriptions match those in your Court Records System and/or Police
Records System.
At some point in the
future you will have the need or desire to make changes in the available
codes for certain fields. Perhaps a new violation code has been
created by your state's legislature, a new street name in your city
needs to be added, or a new Vehicle Make or Model has been introduced.
These are just a few examples of the many times you will want to add or
modify your existing codes.
Other available systems
on the market handle this situation by forcing you to call them and
request a change be made. You then have to wait until the company
has the time to make the requested changes, compile a new version of the
software and send it to you. Another company requires that you
ship the handheld unit to their offices where they make the changes you
request.
Cardinal takes a
different approach with MobileCite.
We give your System Administrator the ability to quickly and easily add,
edit or delete codes and descriptions any time you need to. The
changes can be made in a matter of seconds from a PC using our Data
Entry Default Utility.

After the changes are
made, MobileCite
will ask if you want to rebuild the configuration file for the handhelds
or laptops?

Simply choose "Yes" and
the changes you made will automatically be sent to all handhelds
or laptops the next time they download their citation data. It's
as simple as that!
